Thinking globally, acting locally for H2 energy

earth
The International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies has supported the undertaking of 12 pre-feasibility studies for hydrogen energy projects around the globe. The studies covered projects ranging from a wind-hydrogen installation in Patagonia, to biological hydrogen production in India, to solar hydrogen production in Libya, to hydrogen vehicles introduction in South Korea, etc. One of these studies covering a wind-hydrogen project in Morocco and Mauritania (the Sahara Wind Project) succeeded in receiving additional funding for an experimental investigation of the concept. The remaining of the studies invariably led to proposals that did not manage to receive funding, proving that hydrogen energy is not a priority in the funding instruments targeted that address more basic needs usually encountered in developing countries. It is for this reason that ICHET has decided to provide its own support to the realisation of pilot projects.
