Dr. Türe has nearly forty years of experience in the field of renewable and hydrogen energy based technologies. A physicist by training, his early interests were in semiconductor device applications where he was one of the early pioneers in the fabrication of solid state radiation detectors in the Turkish Atomic Energy Commission. He has worked at a number of academic centres in the UK and as a group leader in the prestigious GEC Hirst Research Centre. On his return to Turkey, he established the Department of Energy in the Marmara Research Centre of the Turkish Scientific and Research Council (TÜBİTAK) and served as its Director. Subsequently, Dr. Türe taught in several universities and consulted on energy and hydrogen matters. In 2005, he started working for the Centre as Associate Director in charge of scientific and technical projects, was the Centre's Director from 1 May 2007 to January 2008 and was appointed Senior Scientific Director on 1 February 2008.
